Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, also known as Martyn’s Law or Protect Duty, is a proposed piece of UK legislation that is expected to come into force by 2023.
The bill aims to better protect visitors, staff and the wider public from terrorism in publicly accessible locations (PALs). The first draft of the bill identifies the premises that will be expected to meet the legislation starting with places that have a capacity of over 100 people including entertainment venues, places of worship, museums and government buildings. Enhanced duties will be put on premises with a public capacity of more than 800 people.
